A Powerful Combination of Ingredients
Bee Healed Skin Repair Salve features several naturally healing ingredients produced by bees and is powered by (see References):
- Propolis (at 20% concentration of oils, fats, & waxes) – a natural byproduct of bees, propolis is sometimes called “bee glue,” which is used to protect beehives; it is a non-toxic resin mixture made from natural tree resins, wax, salivary secretions, and pollen. Its complex and numerous health-promoting components offer antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, antitumor, hepatoprotective (liver-protecting), analgesic (pain-relieving), and tissue regeneration activity that speeds up wound healing and improves aesthetic appearance of wounds
- Raw honey – another natural byproduct of bees that has been shown in wound healing studies to offer anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity; it also stimulates immunity and tissue growth, minimizes formation of scars, and helps sterilize infected wounds because of its antibacterial properties
- Organic beeswax – a secretion of bees that helps build honeycombs that store honey; beeswax offers both anti-inflammatory & antimicrobial properties and has been used with success in treatment of burn wounds
- Organic sea buckthorn oil – an antioxidant-rich oil from a tree seed and fruit that has been shown in animal studies to: increase wound blood flow and contraction; speed up wound epithelialization (rebuilding of skin); reduce free radicals; & increase skin modeling tissue (collagen type-III and vascular endothelial growth factor) in wound granulation tissue
- Magnesium hydroxide (2%) – a form of magnesium derived from one of 3 sources: 1) magnesium-rich mineral, 2) hydration of magnesium oxide, or 3) precipitation of seawater; among other benefits, it offers antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, DNA repair, and wound healing actions
- Bentonite clay (1%) – often derived from aged volcanic ash; helps the body detox, reduces skin inflammation, protects the skin barrier, supports skin and ulcer healing, offers antibacterial activity, and decreases bleeding and clotting time
- Non-nano zinc oxide (1%) – a mineral compound that offers anti-inflammatory properities and assists with re-epithelialization (rebuilding of skin)
Additional ingredients that help support wound healing processes include (see References):
- Grass-fed, pasture-raised beef tallow – offers anti-inflammatory support, antioxidants glutathione & superoxide dismutase, omega-3 fatty acids, precursors to vitamins A & E
- Pasture-raised pork lard – offers vitamin D3 which enhances wound healing
- Organic kokum butter – offers antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antidepressant, and anti-anxiolytic benefits
- Organic shea butter – offers vitamin C, antioxidant activity, and anti-inflammatory activity

Propolis: How to Maximize its Value
While a product ingredient list including "propolis" may look the same as the next one – the product ingredient list doesn't usually tell all.
To get the most bang for your buck when buying a product containing propolis, you'll want to note any product descriptions about:
1. What is the percent concentration of propolis that is used?
A 5% concentration will have a different potency than a 20% concentration.
2. How was propolis infused or added?
It's important to make sure propolis is infused into the final product – and is not simply just added to the final product. Because of its complex structure, propolis does not offer the same degree of health benefits when used directly where no steps of infusion have occurred (see References).
Additionally, infusions should not occur at temperatures that are too high, as those occurring at or above 60°C (140°F) have been shown to result in high free radical formation (see References).
Little Leaf Pharms takes extra effort to maximize the wound healing benefits that propolis can offer in this product. We do this in 2 ways:
1. 20% concentration of propolis
Bee Healed Skin Repair includes a propolis concentration of 20% of all oils, fats, and waxes included in this product.
2. Infusion temperatures
We do not simply add propolis to Bee Healed Skin Repair but also infuse it into the final product by heating it near a temperature of 80°F over the course of 10 minutes so as to both maximize benefits and avoid formation of free radicals in the final product.
Suggested Use
Apply to wounded skin as needed to aid tissue repair. Cover with band-aid or bandage to prevent staining clothing and fabric.
For the allergy-prone, we advise noting the ingredient list first (see Ingredients) and doing a small patch-test before using on the whole body.
